Is Weight Training For You?
Resistive training or Weight training is the component that helps your body build muscle and strength, but many other benefits come along with weight training as well. Weight training, believe it or not, is a very important factor in dropping fat.
I know the term “muscle burns fat” has been floating around for years. Well, it is true! I’ll explain how.
For your body to carry a pound of fat throughout a day, your body will burn anywhere from 8-10 calories for holding that fat.
Thats 8-10 calories per pound of fat per day, not much right.
Now for your body to carry a pound of muscle for a day, you will burn anywhere from 80-90 calories.
Ten times the amount burned from fat.
This is because muscle is a much leaner, energy efficient tissue.
So let's say you lose ten pounds of fat, that is a great accomplishment, but is it enough?
Now imagine you lose ten pounds of fat and gain two pounds of muscle.
Well, those two pounds of muscle that you gain will help your body burn more calories over the course of a day.
This will help you burn more fat off at a faster rate. Hence the term muscle burns fat.
Have you ever known that guy that had a ton of muscle and could get away with eating anything he wanted without gaining fat?
Well this is why.
Him having all that muscle burning calories for him all day long allowed him to eat without the food going to fat storage.
The more muscle you have the more calories you burn each day- the less fat will be stored.
And when I speak of muscle gain I am not talking bodybuiler muscle. Simply adding 3 pounds of muscle to your body will help you burn almost 300 more calories everyday, without any extra work.
Call it a reward for having muscle.
Weight training can also improve sports performance, daily activities, confidence levels, sex drive and increase your energy levels.
Without getting your personal info/medical history, I will not make resistive raining recommendations. What I will say is that it is imperative in attempting to reach ANY fitness goal.
