Although many consider golf to be more of an activity than a sport, bio-mechanical studies show that the physical nature of the golf swing is as demanding on your body as lifting weights. It is a familiar occurrence to have more than half the players on the golf course suffering from golf related injuries.
The amount of stress that occurs as a result of swinging a 9 iron at 80 - 90 MPH wreaks havoc on your back, shoulders, wrists and forearms. Although golf is very often played for relaxation; the goal is to become proficient, constantly improve and have an enjoyable time. We all have set limitations that cause our body to compensate during the golf swing. Our goal is to get the body prepared, locate the source of the fault within the body, target and fix the source of the problem. This will then allow your swing coach to do his job more easily and efficiently because when you make changes in your golf swing based on physical limitations other compensations will occur. Trying to fix a swing without fixing the body can be frustrating.
So How do we do this?
1. Optimize Posture: Our goal is to get the spine into a “neutral” position to maximize rotation and minimize injury and pain.
2. Targeted Flexibility Exercises: Identify restrictions within the body and retrain the tissue and nervous system to improve motion.
3. Dynamic Warm Up: Improve your overall level of fitness so that you perform as good on the back nine as you do on the front.
4. Special Flexibility Exercises: This is the key to transforming your newly found flexibility into your golf swing.
5. Nutrition: Based on the individuals needs we will design an individualized food plan that is easy to follow, will enhance energy and performance, and if needed help drop unwanted fat.
6. Strength Training: We mix in basic strength exercises to increase bone density, joint strength, as well as focus on potentially weak muscles that may be putting your body into a position of golf failure.
